As we breathe in all the possibilities and opportunities that the next 365 days of the year will bring (hopefully not all in one breath), by nature, I’ve already started reveling in the new unveiling of Pantone’s Color of the Year. This year (drumroll please) the company announced the Color of 2017 is “Greenery.”
Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.
Call me a hopeless romantic but what a rejuvenating way to symbolize the start of a marriage’s happily ever after!
Rewind a few months ago. Unaware of Pantone’s decision, we actually experimented with the 2017 color during two different styled shoots. Lucky guess, right? - I should probably hit the casino for a weekend before my luck runs out. ;)
Here’s what we learned about how Greenery will play into wedding flowers and decor for 2017:
Nature's Neutral For All
At our tropical fiesta styled wedding shoot, hosted at The Greystone Estate, we used greenery as a base across all style aspects allowing the bright colors to pop above all else.
Honestly, this shade not only works really well with tropical but also with modern or natural arrangements.
This year, to highlight the different variations certain wedding themes portray, you’ll see this neutral color mixed with other hues of green in an arrangement to capture the right feel.
Types of foliage we used for this Greenery hue: Ti Leafs , Palm Leafs, Aralia Leafs.
Bright Bridal Bouquets
This is when we discovered that the Greenery tone jives really well with flashy fuchsia, rich pinks and bright yellows. If you want your blooms to POP and WOW, this is the neutral to use!
Essentially in this bouquet, we used lots of Sword Fern, Scabiosa, and Peonies for texture.
We were able to capture the “wild and natural” bouquet by mixing in different shades of green.
With Greenery as nature’s neutral and a perfect pick to brighten up that bridal bouquet, I’m certain a handful of brides will be signing up to incorporate Pantone’s Color of the Year in their 2017 wedding themes.
Be still, my Pinterest...The “Greenery” seed has definitely been planted in my books, and I can’t wait to play around more with this spirited neutral.
